Welcome to Colchester Mind

Colchester Mind works to improve the lives of people from all sectors of society experiencing mental health problems and seeks to achieve this through providing a variety of services and activities and through campaigning and awareness raising. Colchester Mind provides placements for social work students. Our aim is work collaboratively with partners and the majority of our services are in partnership with statuary and third sectors organisations. More recently we have extended our services and we are now commissioned to provide services in the North East Essex area including Tendring.

Mission Statement

To support and empower people experiencing emotional and/or mental health problems to recover, building on their personal hopes and aspirations. We strive to provide a comprehensive community mental health service which meets individual’s needs and promotes mental health awareness in our local community.

Aims and Objectives

  • To provide comprehensive adult and child and adolescent advocacy services.
  • To provide professional counselling services.
  • To provide accessible, friendly and supportive Community Bridge Building Service for adults with mental health problems.
  • To provide drop-in services and a wide range of youth friendly services, therapies and activities, such as art groups and music sessions, for young people with mental health problems.
  • To offer young people an opportunity to voice their opinions through our Young Persons Advisory Board.
  • To provide support in schools.
  • To provide early intervention support through Improving Access through Psychological Therapies (IAPT)
  • To offer support to people from Black Minority Ethic (BME) Communities
