Advocacy service for Learning Disabilities

The advocacy service for Learning Disabilities is a person centred rights based service providing information, support and representation both to NHS and private hospitals. The advocate will endeavour to engage with and become familiar to patients on site by visiting on a regular basis. This would give patients the opportunity to gain information and support on anything concerning their rights, including: Mental Health Act rights, Care Planning Meetings, Medication, Human Rights, Contacting Solicitors, Complaints, Finances, Housing issues and other important concerns.

An advocacy service for people with Learning Disabilities is provided on the NHS Lexden Road Site in Colchester.

Colchester Mind provides an Independent Mental Health Advocate who will represent and support patients on this site who are detained under the Mental Health Act.
